China House Penang

A good place to stop by in the hot scorching Penang weather is China House! Located on both Lebuh Pantai and Lebuh Victoria , it has 2 entrances.:) China House was our getaway from the brutal sun, the relaxing ambience, smell of freshly baked goodies and instant chill of cool air, made us feel cozy. :)

The cafe is also an art gallery on the second floor.

We were spoilt for choice in this cafe. Their menu not only consisted of deserts, they have appetizers and main menu too, but we were too exhausted to think of food. I had a salted caramel ice cream (RM9), which came slightly melted, but i gulped it down. :) The cake was really good too. Too bad wasn't in the mood to try the other cakes. Will have to give the cafe another try the next time i head to Penang :)

Penang Street Art

Get a map and start searching. I'm talking about the famous Penang Street Art by Ernest Zacharevic painted all around  Georgetown in conjunction with the Georgetown Festival but currently there are many new murals and sculptures which are drawn or made by local artists. Envy these talented people!

We parked our car at Prangin Mall, and began our search by foot with a map obtained from the hotel. Despite the scorching weather, we were able to look for most of the sculptures and murals.  Each sculpture and mural has its own name.

There is a brochure here by tourism of Penang to help you locate the murals and sculptures. Besides that for the owners of Iphone or Ipad there is an application called the Penang Offline Mural Map App foc (explained by Selina Wing in her blog) which also can help in the location of the murals. The murals can also be located in a map by Google using this link. As for me, I used a traditional map given by Tune hotel but there isn't a picture of it as it ended up in a shape of a chinese folded fan due to the heat. :)

Laksa Pasar Air Itam

After Kek Lok Si temple, we walked down to try the famously talked about Laksa Pasar Air Itam. They only open at 11.15am and one bowl of asam laksa costs Rm 4. I liked it.:) The stall is crowded with people, its kind of hard to miss.

service is extremely fast. we didnt even have to wait, while we were ordering drinks, the laksa already arrived!

Kek Lok Si Temple Penang

Here! I bring to you the famous Kek Lok Si temple, mentioned by many. :) A big beautiful temple located on a hill. Not much narrating to do, let the pictures do the talking.

A lift to the Kuan Yin Statue with a price of rm 4 return ticket.

 Besides the Kuan Yin Statue, there is also a Koi pond and a zodiac park.

There is also a liberation pond, hidden near the basement of the temple, where you can feed the turtles kangkung. * there wasn't any discount for the bunch of kangkung, i thought the price went down? haha*

p/s: closed when we were visiting.. too bad, we'll see you next time Bukit Bendera. :)

Parasailing in Penang :)

My First Parasailing! Super adrenaline rush. I just went for it, although my stomach was crazily churning, body shivering, heart pounding. 

Parasailing can be done at Tanjung Bungah Beach or Batu Ferringhi Beach in Penang. We actually walked through the Flamingo Hotel at Tanjung Bungah and reached the beach for water sports. They offer a variety of water sports such as jet skis, the 'donut', banana boat and etc. Parasailing cost me RM60 after a little bargaining. :P

Since I was freaking out, they offered an instructor to parasail with me. foc. *accepted happily* They also guarantee that you won't get wet, since i wasn't ready to take a dip in the sea water :) The experience of taking off and landing was a bit frightening, but it was all good as sailing while enjoying the calm winds with an awesome sunset, was all worth it. :D next flight off a boat, alone? muahaha..
