Deeparaya

Dinner with Malaysia's Ambasador in Indonesia~
we went for a really nice dinner at a hotel nearby called Puri Khatulistiwa in Jatinagor not long ago.. It was Enjoyable (performances were up to standards, my standards..hehe) and Disastrous too( diarrhoe)..but it was the company that made that night that much more special~As only some of the students were able to go for the dinner, others didn't get a chance, it was quite sad, they really wanted to go..
So, msg for the ambasador: Have a BIGGER dinner next time, with ALL the students~

Imigration

I had no class on friday as we had to go to the imigration office in Bandung about 1 and a half hour from my campus in Jatinangor.Took a bus at 7.30 but due to some 'sleepy heads' we moved only at around 8am.
When we reached the imigration office we practically did not have to do anything but sit down and WAIT~ When your turn came, you have to sign here and there, take a picture, have all 10 fingers printed and that was practically it.
The best part bout the day was during the lunch break. MCD! woo hoo~chicken foldover here it is called gourmet wrap and its kinda bigger than in Malaysia as i could finish the one in Malaysia. As I was so greedy i got an UP sized set (large set) summore and found it hard to even finish my coke.hmm~~
The worst part of the day. I spilt water on my hp. I mean wet the whole thing in and also out. gosh~my mood went all over the place for a mo. had problem processing things = parents, money, new hp,scolding..lucky the phone survived and is doing well, i hope.

a picture from inside the angkut( a public van)

p/s: friends are the reason im surviving here!xoxo

Roland's Uitspan Guest House Stellenbosch

Well we only toured for only 4 days.. then itz off to Stellenbosch where my mum had her conference (Afrilex) while i wonder off and do my own exploring for 5 whole days..

Accomodation - Roland's Uitspan Guest House

garden view
hallway (only 13 rooms in the whole guest house)
p/s: It was a wonderful stay. Kudos to the workers. They only have 2 workers for the whole guest house, so they are like family..

Hout Bay and Cape Town

The weather is WINTER and there are still surfers in the sea..what are they trying to prove?
look at the scenery ( my face looks like a laughing goo-goo head)

Hout Bay
A boat ride to see the cute seals, YAY. Rocking boat all the way, NO~. I nearly fell off the boat. A boat ride in winter should not be on the list of things to do, in summer its definitely much nicer.

a seal (it got lost from its colony..poor seal), the coat is brownish compared to the one's in sea world.

the colony of seals
Ostrich farm in Cape Town. Not to view the Ostriches though. But to eat ostrich meat. I can’t believe I ate it too. You can’t blame me, it was really cold and I was hungry. Delicious. The meat is cooked on a wood fire and bread too. If you’re heading to South Africa. Don’t miss out on this opportunity. You can never taste ostrich this nice other than here. The meat was medium rare. You know I’m always against food with blood. But this really changed my views but only for this restaurant. As you can’t taste the bloody taste at all.

ostrich meat ( yummy, a must try)

Table Mountain Cape Town

On the first day we just reached Jo'berg South Africa, second day,we were on a flight again, this time to beautiful city,Cape Town.

First stop Table Mountain. Its name was due to its shape which is like a table. Duh~. The clouds surrounding it makes it look like a table with a table cloth. Up on table mountain, B-E-A-U-tiful scenery. Real true scenic beauty. Two ways of going up, you can choose to hike up(3 hours) or a get on the cable car (2 minutes). The place was so cold. 8 degrees and you want me to hike. NO WAY! So we went on the cable car.

table mountain

for suicidals only

the hills are suppose to look like a lion..go figure
p/s: i ate chinese food take-away for dinner, Ma-Po Taufu which costs R25, all worth it. First time I ate it is was with Yi Ming, this is my second time and it was tastier. Seriously, its super nice. I thought it wouldn’t be spicy, but I was so wrong it was spicy as ever, which I liked.

Pilanesberg National Park

First Day…

Guess what! After landing at 7 something in the morning, we went straight on our tour trip. No resting. No checking in to the hotel and leaving the bags, besides most of the hotel checking in time here is 2 pm. So we need to GO GO GO! Swt!
Reached and was greeted by our trusty tour guide, Mr. Mogamat Toffar. It was a personal tour, so it’s only me, mum and Mogamat. Greeting session, Hi; name;welcome.

Headed off. Wee hoo~
The traffic jam in Johannesburg was exactly like in Malaysia except theirs are mainly on the highway. We drove all the way from Johannesburg to Sun City in the Northern Part of South Africa through Pretoria which is one of the capital cities of South Africa. The national flower is Protea.
My impression of the area we drove through was SCARY. The whole driving trip, I saw people everywhere, walking running, staring. It was a sight that made me really scared even though I was in a car. I think the shows in TV influenced my perception. You could see them standing at the side of the road crowding around a small fire to heat up. But I didn’t let that get to me, as they were friendly. You need to make the first move by smiling. A smile can take you far. But that is not always the case. We were warned of the crime rates in Johannesburg, so we were very careful.

Next stop ,SAFARI! Yeap~ That was what I was waiting for. We entered the game park through the Bakubung Gate. I thought we would be sitting those big high trucks+trained driver+a rifle, but we didn't. Instead we went in the Game Park with a normal car.I started winding up all the windows pretending it was cold. actually takut the lion baham me~It was the best 2 hours ever. Live animals living in their own habitat, how cool was that. Being 5 metres away from a giraffe and a rhino! Woosh! Can’t explain the feeling..
Didn’t get to see the lions and cheetah though cause of the time limit. But I’m not complaining. If I was living in South Africa, i would drive in the Safari everyweek, as the feeling of spotting animals from a far in their natural habitat is so satisfying+exciting+scary all at the same time.

The BIG 5 means the Lion, Leopard,Elephant, Rhino,Bufallo

the bakubung gate

zebra (1st animal spotted)
herd of zebra and springbok

a giraffe ( spot it! - can only see itz head)

the 2nd giraffe ( no zooming involved-we were that close)

deers hiding! (cant hide from me..muahaha)

hippo
Elephants

White Rhino ( no zooming)

we thought the rhino wanted to charge at us, actually they just wanted to cross the road, *relieved*

Finally, the day ended with a meal at the ANAT. I had a shwarna. The concept is exactly like Subway where you can choose what you want in your meal. The difference is that they have something called chick pea paste which taste quite good and a few different sauces. The chilli one was superb. Shwarna is something like kebab with sandwiches. It has kebab meat but the filling of sandwiches. You get what I mean. The ANAT shop was actually beside NANDO’s but I promised myself NO Nando’s. But, it was really tempting. Btw, NANDO’s is from South Africa and is much cheaper there, of course.

shwarna

Stayed in Southern Sun in Johannesburg.

Btw, Kubu means hippo and tankie means thank you in one of the African language. See I have been talking African all this while, Tankie for reading.

Catch up with Intians

well the incomplete post continues here..
it was raining..yet we still manage to berpose-pose. As proof we were in inti, we took a photo of the inti sign (so clever~)

selamba pose (some ppl not good at it, we all pro..one sleeping, one closing eye and one talking)

no evil, i tell u, no evil!
p/s: camerawoman carly was not in the pic coz after a little while of posing session the weather jealous of our skills and rained even heavier..lol.-.-'''

South Africa (Part 1)

Since 27th of June at 1.05am I took a flight with my mum all the way to South Africa. Yeah! Don’t get the wrong idea. Some of my friends imagined the place to be lack of food, sunny and dry, poor people. Well, it’s so not true. Besides, its winter here you know. Very cold unlike our ‘panas dan lembap sepanjang tahun’. It didn’t snow though. They said that it snowed before. Too bad. The climate here is like in Australia, the sun is out but the wind made the weather freezing cold. The people here are very friendly like in Malaysia.
me bags
After landing in the Johannesburg Airport, I was exhausted. I didn’t really have a good sleep. Not because of the minor turbulence but it was because of the games and movies MAS flight had installed for the 10 hours plus trip. It’s typical ME for blaming other factors, other than myself. Well, the food served by MAS was definitely up to standards.
When we boarded the plane, we were given
  • warm towel to freshen up
  • a pack of peanuts ( nice, I was hungry at that time)
  • Supper! ( there were 2 choices, I chose the fish curry and rice)
  • Free Flow of plain water and juices
  • Breakfast ( Two choices Nasi lemak or western- WESTERN!!)
Fish Curry and Rice – Fish was really nice ( no bones!) & mixed vegetables ( fits in with the meal) Coffee cake ( yummy, I don’t drink coffee but I like this cake) Salad with prawns( I don’t know whether it was raw onot) but I didn’t likie..Adults liked it though.

Sausage and Omelette – Sausage and omelette was nice accompanied by steamed veggie
brown. Bread and mixed fruits. YUM! Banana yogurt drink, not really my cup of tea.

Okay, I played Bejewelled like forever. I wanted to compete with someone, but they were either not interested in the game or sleeping. Oh well competed with the computer. I got first and second place. The highest~! BUT! I couldn’t change the name. So, my name became PLAYER. I thought I could leave my name there, see if someone else can beat my very high score! High High Score!! O well..

high scores!!
THE MAS FLIGHT RATING
Service: Okay.
Food: Good.
Flight: Smooth with few minor turbulence.
Facilities: Excellent ( especially the movies and games)
My comment: Overall good, except some forgetful charm that got to the steward. He forgot about my food.
Btw, just for your information, the time at South Africa is 6 hours earlier than the time in Malaysia. So, if in Malaysia, it’s 12 noon at South Africa it’s 6am. The currency is Rand.
Be back on 5th July..xoxo
